How to Connect a Domain - GoDaddy




How to point your GoDaddy domain to your Minecraft server.

To point your recently purchased GoDaddy domain to your Minecraft server follow these steps:

1. Log onto your GoDaddy account.
2a. Click "My Account" on the top right.
3. Then click "Manage Your Domains"
4. Click the domain you want to use.
5. Click "DNS" -> "DNS Manager" at the top of the page
6. Click "edit zone" of your chosen domain.
7. Follow the steps below that apply to you. Read each section and decide what is right for you.


Numeric IP and Port
With this IP you will still have to use the port when connecting with your domain.
If you do not want to use a port with your domain either purchase a Dedicated IP or a Sub-Domain.
8. Click "Quick Add" under the "A (Host)" section.
9a. The "Host" section is where you enter your prefix i.e. If you want "mc.servername.com" enter "mc".
9b. On the "Points to" section type your numeric IP (do not include a port)

10. If you want to use your full domain as the address to your server follow these steps otherwise skip to the end.
11. Click the "Points to" with the numbers in on the same line as the Host entry "@"
12. Type in your numeric IP (do not include a port).

13. You can now use this domain with your port to connect to you Minecraft server e.g. mc.servername.com:1234


Dedicated IP (Default Port)
Best and easiest way to setup a domain is via a Dedicated IP.
8. Click "Quick Add" under the "A (Host)" section.
9a. The "Host" section is where you enter your prefix i.e. If you want "mc.servername.com" enter "mc"
9b. On the "Points to" section type your numeric IP (do not include a port)

10. If you want to use your full domain as the address to your server follow these steps otherwise skip to the end.
11. Click the "Points to" with the numbers in on the same line as the Host entry "@"
12. Type in your numeric IP (do not include a port).

13. You can now use this domain to connect to your Minecraft server.

Once you have made your changes click "Save Zone File" at the very bottom of the page.
Allow for 48 hours for the changes to take effect.
